Applicant David Saley of Bender and Associates described a plan to remove a nonhistoric concrete porch and restore the house to its earlier configuration using board-and-batten siding and wood windows, guided by a 1965 historic photograph. Staff recommended approval, noting the proposal generally complies with HARC guidelines but that any proposed skylight must not be a plastic dome.
"Staff thinks it all complies with the guidelines because it is being reconstructed," staff member Matthew told commissioners. Commissioner Green moved to approve; Commissioner Archer seconded and the commission voted to approve the restoration and associated demolition reading as requested. The demolition request was noted as eligible for a single reading if approved. Staff will proceed with permits and the applicant may move forward with the reconstruction consistent with the approved plans.
