Scranton zoning board opens rescheduled July hearing, reviews rules and reappointment timing

The City of Scranton Zoning Board convened a rescheduled July 2026 meeting and completed roll call, the pledge of allegiance and statutory notices required under the Pennsylvania Sunshine Law. Chair (speaker 1) told participants the board would render decisions at the meeting’s end or within 45 days and reviewed permit timing, a 30‑day waiting period before permits may be obtained without a waiver, and a 12‑month expiration for approvals under Article 10.3(c) of the zoning ordinance.

Board member John Adichanden (speaker 4) asked whether the board should reorganize now or wait until reappointments take effect. Solicitor responded that the board should wait until Jan. 1 because two of the three members had already been serving. The zoning officer confirmed legal postings were completed by city staff and the meeting proceeded to agenda items.
