Gov. Bob Ferguson hosted a ceremony at the Governor's Residence in Olympia on 07/28/2026 and formally proclaimed "Fast Pitch Softball State Champions Day" to honor the six 2026 high school champions: Skyline, Mount Spokane, Mark Morris, Montesano, Freeman and Liberty Christian. The governor read the proclamation aloud and presented signed commemorative softballs to teams.
The proclamation text included a formal declaration: "Now, therefore, I, Bob Ferguson, governor of the state of Washington and proud softball dad, do hereby proclaim 07/28/2026 as Fast Pitch Softball State Champions Day." Ferguson framed the event as both a recognition of athletic achievement and a celebration of the community and coaches who support youth sports. He also invited teams to take photographs and tour the public floor of the residence, which remained open to visitors until 03:00.
The ceremony included brief remarks from University of Washington head coach Heather Tarr and coaches and players from Freeman, Mark Morris and Skyline. Ferguson said the event is intended to become a recurring recognition for state champions and thanked families who had traveled to Olympia for the gathering.
