Council reviews $34K–$36K bids to repair sewer-plant HVAC; control room prioritized

Mayor Troy Painter and staff reviewed competing HVAC bids for the sewer-plant control and electrical rooms and discussed prioritizing repairs to the most critical space.

"If it was my house, I'd just fix it because it's hot," Painter said in the discussion, urging a practical approach. Staff reported two bids for mini-split systems (roughly $34,040 and $35,890) and described the planned work as targeted to the control room where condensate and moisture have been affecting equipment. Council members suggested phasing repairs to address the control room first and to review the budget before authorizing full replacement.

Staff said they will contact the contractor for an immediate inspection and, if funds allow, place the item on the next council agenda for formal approval. The council instructed staff to seek a budget estimate and report back with options for either a full HVAC replacement or a phased fix focused on the control room.
