Roosevelt County commissioners voted Feb. 24 to award the Brockton Community Hydrant Replacements contract to Bishop Inc. for $194,449.00, selecting the lowest of five bids submitted earlier in the month.
“Commissioner Marottek moved to approve Bishop Inc. bid in the amount of $194,449.00,” the minutes record; Commissioner Oelkers seconded and the motion passed. John Bach of Interstate Engineering told the board the work will replace hydrants and valves and is expected to help address Brockton’s water-pressure problems. Bach previously opened five bids during a Feb. 10 special meeting and said he would check bids for accuracy and issue a recommendation at the Feb. 24 meeting.
Bids opened Feb. 10 ranged from $194,449.00 (Bishop Inc.) to $351,650.00 (Heart 7 Excavation). Commissioners noted the county reserves the right to reject or waive bids for the county’s best interest and said Brockton funds will be used to finance the project. The board thanked bidders for their participation and directed Interstate Engineering to finalize the procurement paperwork and next steps.
