Board approves $2.00 million contract for new trades building

The Battle Ground Public School Board approved a $2,004,394 contract with Union Corner Construction to build an 8,064-square-foot trades building, funding the work through the district’s capital levy.

Kevin, the district’s facilities lead, told the board the project was rebid after formal protests and that Union Corner again emerged as the low bidder. “This contract in the amount of $2,004,394 will construct a new 8,064 square foot trades building, and this is included in our 2024 capital levy,” he said. Board members noted bidders were within 1 percent of one another and that Union Corner reduced its price by about $60,000 on the rebid.

The board member who moved the approval asked for the vote; all three directors present voted yes and the motion passed 3-0. The contract follows the district’s capital levy plan and is scheduled to move forward under standard procurement and contracting procedures. The board did not expand on the project timeline at the meeting; staff previously indicated related site work and permitting phases will follow procurement and award.
