Board sets June 9 hearing on Ordinance #66 to add data center and cloud computing rules to county zoning

The board opened a public hearing at 10:00 a.m. and heard Zoning Administrator Keith Brann introduce a proposed amendment to the Osceola County Zoning Ordinance to include requirements for data centers. Brann said the Planning and Zoning Commission is recommending the amendment; the draft includes provisions for cloud computing.

Supervisor Jayson Vande Hoef moved to accept the Planning and Zoning report with the explicit addition of 'cloud computing' to the draft and to set a public hearing on Ordinance #66 for 9:00 a.m. on June 9. Supervisor Mike Schulte seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The board directed that the ordinance language and hearing notice be published and that public comment will be taken at the scheduled June 9 hearing.
