Resident says prior meeting included public "liar" accusation; urges clearer CIP communications

Linda Calloway told the New Durham Advisory Capital Improvement Program Committee she wrote on July 12 to seek clarification of the CIP process and to highlight what she called disrespectful language at a previous meeting. "I was shocked at what I heard and couldn't believe that a member of any board would publicly call another town employee a liar in such a cavalier way," Calloway said, reading her letter and giving her address to the committee.

Calloway urged the committee to convene a 15-to-30-minute in-person kickoff for all department heads and stakeholders so everyone understands deadlines, data requirements and how to use the project-description form. Committee members agreed that face-to-face orientation and clearer documentation would reduce confusion; Chair Scott Turner said he would call on staff, including Stephanie, to help clarify the form and assist department heads through the process.
