Parks presenters urge prioritizing safety repairs; basketball court quote cited at about $19,000

Parks and recreation representatives asked the CIP committee to keep baseline funding roughly the same as past years and to prioritize safety repairs at the town ballfields and playground. The presenter said the usual annual request is "$5,000 each year" for routine repairs and maintenance and described rusting fences, worn playground pieces and a basketball court with deep cracks that may require partial or full resurfacing.

Members discussed obtaining multiple quotes and focusing limited CRF dollars on safety projects such as a guardrail behind a steep drop-off and repair of the walking path. One presenter said an initial resurfacing estimate was about $19,000 and that she would seek additional bids; members encouraged a short, costed timeline and photos to help sell the request to the select board.
