The Middlebury250 Committee on July 28 confirmed a plan to install 19 lawn-sign markers along the stretch of the Greenway between Steinmann Avenue and the corner of Routes 64 and 188 to mark Rochambeau’s march.
LeAnn Cassidy told the committee that Minuteman Press in Waterbury will print the signs for $400. First Selectwoman Jennifer Mahr said a $750 grant from the CT America 250 Commission has been approved and that she will provide the town’s tax-exempt certificate to Cassidy to complete purchase arrangements. The committee discussed exact placement and confirmed the focus area for the 19 signs.
The committee noted that the Greenway Committee must approve the signs going up along the Greenway; that meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 3. No formal vote to purchase the signs is recorded in the minutes; the discussion established vendor, cost, funding source and proposed locations as the next steps.
If the Greenway Committee approves installation, organizers will proceed with printing and coordinate installation along the identified corridor. The Middlebury250 Committee will follow up with the town’s tax-exempt documentation to finalize the vendor order.
