Pittsburg to meet with neighboring towns Aug. 17 on recycling-center contingency plans

Warner (S3) told attendees that a meeting with surrounding towns was set for Aug. 17 at 5 p.m. to discuss contingency plans if the recycling center closes and to explore options to keep recycling fiscally viable for all towns involved. He said the discussion would include whether to continue accepting tin, glass and certain plastics and how to share costs.

Warner noted that many plastics have little market value and that some containers are not worth the town's effort to recycle; he said the goal of the meeting is to develop a plan that could be fiscally responsible for all participating towns.
