Residents call for park upgrades, goat‑head control and shade at town pool

Multiple residents asked the council to prioritize improvements to existing parks and recreation spaces. Geovona Thompson said goat‑heads and poor park conditions deter use and suggested revitalizing both upper and lower parks and installing low‑maintenance landscaping and irrigation. "If we could revitalize our public spaces, including the park, the entire park... it would be also including a way of maintaining that, like including a watering system," Thompson said.

Steven Sherwood suggested pre‑emergent treatment and local volunteer effort, and recommended installing a cement pad under picnic tables and finishing blacktop when road work occurs. Debra Trate urged shade and artificial turf at the pool to provide comfortable seating and reduce goat‑head injuries. Council indicated park upgrades and goat‑head control will be included in the list of candidate projects, but SEAGO cautioned that routine maintenance is generally not a competitive CDBG activity unless tied to a slum/blight or facility rehabilitation objective.
