Commission authorizes appraisals to prepare RFP for town‑owned Auburn Ave site

The Redevelopment Commission voted to authorize staff to obtain appraisals and begin preparing a request for proposals (RFP) for town‑owned property near the Eastern Boulevard exit (Auburn Ave/Eastern Blvd/Coppellane). The goal is to solicit proposals for the highest and best use consistent with applicable codes.

"This is an awesome piece of property right off the Eastern exit ... I would like to get that moving as soon as possible," the chair said while asking the commission to approve gathering appraisals and starting the RFP process. A motion to proceed was moved and seconded and the commission approved the action by voice vote.

Staff said appraisals may not be complete before the next meeting but the commission asked to see the RFP draft if it is available by the end of August. The RFP will follow state codes and procurement rules as required.
