The Prince George County Board of Supervisors on July 28 presented a commendation recognizing Chief William Keith Early for 10 years and three months of service as police chief, praising his leadership of a department that directs roughly 100 employees and a communications center and manages a multimillion-dollar budget. A reading of the resolution cited his work in community policing, interagency partnerships, grant-supported programs and maintaining one of the county’s lower crime rates.
“Get you nowhere without actions and results from those actions,” Chief Early said in his remarks, thanking officers and volunteers and calling the department’s work “a team effort.” The board’s reading of the resolution noted Early’s professional education and regional collaborations and extended best wishes as he enters retirement. No board action beyond the commendation was required.
