Board approves Lifepak monitors and replacement fire gear for county emergency services

Prince George County’s Board of Supervisors approved two separate public‑safety procurements on July 28. The board authorized the purchase of seven Lifepak 35 cardiac monitors—selected after trials and compared with an alternative Zoll model—and the award of a contract for up to 50 sets of structural firefighting gear that meet NFPA replacement timing (10 years after manufacture). EMS staff explained the ProCare service plan covering parts, labor and battery replacement, and displayed a multiyear cost projection for upkeep.

Fire leadership said the gear purchase would be funded from fire program funds and prioritized to replace expired sets first; staff also flagged an incentive committee process for distribution of second sets based on call activity and engagement. Board members approved both purchases by roll call; no general‑fund appropriation was required for these items.
