Boerne officials praise city staff response after July flood; manager shows EOC video

Boerne City Manager Ben told the council on July 28 that city staff and partners worked around the clock during a multi-day July storm and flood event and that, despite extensive flooding, the city recorded no fatalities and no serious injuries. "We didn't lose a life," Ben said, praising emergency crews and volunteer groups for rescue and cleanup efforts.

Ben described activation of the emergency operations center (EOC), close coordination with the National Weather Service and regional partners, and a heavy workload for about 320 city employees who supported pre-event monitoring, response and post-event cleanup. He showed a short video compiled by staff with on-scene footage and said the city used dash and body-camera feeds in the EOC to improve situational awareness.

The manager also noted widespread public communications during the event — robocalls, text alerts and posts on the MyBoerne News page — and commended residents who helped neighbors with cleanup. Councilmembers thanked staff and volunteers, and several said the response had been unusually effective given the scale of the event. The city manager said staff would follow up with after-action items and continued coordination with county, school-district and state partners.
