Adler Road culvert damaged in July flood; city to expedite repairs ahead of school start

Director Carroll described July flood damage to the Adler Road culvert project between Curry Creek and No Name Creek, including destroyed temporary sidewalks, undermined temporary travel lanes and the need to inject concrete under part of the culvert to stabilize it. Carroll said the contractor agreed that with an extended closure the work could be expedited and the city could likely finish key repairs by the end of August rather than the previously anticipated October completion.

Carroll said the Curry Creek location performed as designed and had only minor impacts, but the No Name Creek side sustained more extensive temporary construction damage. City staff said the roadway will remain closed for the more substantial work but that crews expect to restore a sidewalk and manage single-lane closures to maintain school access; the city and Boerne ISD are coordinating traffic and police presence for school start. The council asked for patience and clear public messaging; staff said they have posted closures to online mapping and will deploy message boards and additional enforcement during the first weeks of school.
