Commission elects chair and confirms vice chair for 2027

The Horry County Historic Preservation Commission elected its officers for the coming year during its meeting. A motion to nominate Ben as chair was moved and seconded and, after nominations were closed, the commission approved the nomination by voice vote. The commission then approved a motion to continue Pat as vice chair by a second motion and voice vote.

Chair (S1) led the process, calling for nominations and asking, “Are there any nominations for chairman for the fiscal year '27?” The motion to close nominations and the voice votes that followed were recorded by the chair as carried. The commission also voted to accept the proposed meeting calendar for 2027 during the same business block.

Why it matters: electing officers sets who will preside over agendas and special meetings in the coming year. The commission also confirmed its meeting cadence at the same time, an administrative step that schedules when the commission will take up future preservation matters. The next regularly scheduled meeting was announced as September 28, 2027.
