Reentry Roundtable presents system-simulation training and requests sustained county support

The Austin-Travis County Reentry Roundtable presented an overview of its FY26 work and FY27 strategy, emphasizing systems-integration, immersive system-simulation trainings and development of a peer-support workforce. Misty Campbell, chair of the roundtable and a corrections-education coordinator, described the simulations used to help leaders experience barriers to reentry and urged continued county investment in system integration and peer support. "Systems matter and changing systems matter," the recorded remarks from a city manager participant said in a slide shown to the court, and presenters said the roundtable's convening function leverages modest county investment into broader cross-sector impact.

Presenters highlighted outcomes including more than 150 people from 30+ agencies participating in system simulations, development of a white paper addressing pay equity and systems integration, and partnerships to expand workforce and housing pathways. Commissioners praised the work and asked for continued collaboration; county staff and reentry partners noted an ongoing request for sustained, modest funding to support coordination and expansion of peer-support and housing partnerships.
