Planning commission approves Lucky Strike color change and Walmart layout changes including EV stalls

Two administrative items on the expedited agenda received commission approval.

Planner Donna Bowen presented a restricted elevation change for Lucky Strike (Mechanicsville district), limited to new exterior colors to reflect rebranding. Staff recommended approval subject to conditions and the commission approved the change.

For Walmart (Mechanicsville district), staff described layout changes including additional pickup spaces, expansion on the building’s west side, restriping, redesign of the dry-pharmacy drive-through and the addition of EV charging stalls. Elena Badier, representing Boller Engineering for Walmart, said the site plan is under review and that construction timing is coordinated with the site-plan approval process; she estimated construction could start in early 2027 and that typical construction windows run three to four months depending on scope. The commission moved to approve the plan with staff-recommended conditions.
