County hears updates on raw waterline, pump station, reservoir and treatment-plant revisions

Herb White of WW Associates updated the Greene County Board on several water projects, including a raw waterline being built in the Vista Heights neighborhood, work on a rollover pump station, plans to submit a reservoir project to the Department of Conservation and Recreation for review, and a planned reduction of the water-treatment plant's design from 3,000,000 gallons per day to 2,000,000 gpd tied to lowering the dam by six feet.

White told supervisors the contractor for the Vista Heights raw waterline "believes he'll be completed by the end of August." He said excavation is under way for the rollover pump station and that the reservoir documents will be submitted to the state and the county for review and comment. White also said the plan to revise raw-water intake and add a raw waterline route from Vista Heights to the plant will be submitted to the health department when completed.

On Well Number 2, White reported that the well has been drilled and that the county has received Virginia Department of Health comments; staff expect to resubmit the project by the end of the week. For a wastewater-treatment-plan project, White said the plan had DEQ approval in Greene County and the bid was advertised with an anticipated bid opening on August 20.

Supervisors asked clarifying questions about easements and timing; staff indicated some easements have been negotiated and that the county will move forward with submissions, permitting, and bidding according to the schedules White outlined.
