County approves new website developer, recognizes The Equalizer as legal newspaper and moves to modernize election equipment

The Clay County Board of Commissioners approved several administrative and technology actions in mid‑2015. On July 28 the Board recognized The Equalizer as a legal county newspaper in addition to the Vermillion Plain Talk and Tri‑County News after the paper demonstrated statutory qualifications.

The Board then selected Wendy S. Ohl to redesign the county website and awarded contracts for electronic indexing and imaging services for the Register of Deeds (Microfilm Imaging Systems). County staff also purchased Pictometry access and approved a multi‑year IBM maintenance option for county systems. For election equipment the Board authorized purchase of five Express Vote machines and two DS200 ballot counting machines for 2016, to be reimbursed by available grant funds.

These administrative technology actions were presented as ways to improve public access to records, modernize election processes, and update county communications capacity.
