Bleckley County commissioners approved the 2026 Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant (LMIG) in the amount of $500,000, Commissioner Mike Davis reported during the Jan. 15 meeting.
Davis said the county also purchased new road equipment to assist with grading and smoothing dirt roads. Ronnie Smith identified the roads slated for work with the LMIG funds: Abney Road, West Linda Drive, Kathy Drive, Alderman Drive and part of Berryhill Coody Road. He added that Frank Cook Road is scheduled to be completed this week and that the Antioch Road project has been completed and signed off.
Davis noted the county was also awaiting word on a possible LRA grant, which he said was expected to be announced by Governor Kemp that day. The meeting record does not specify the LRA award amount or eligibility conditions.
Next steps: the county will move forward with the listed projects and continue scheduling work as funds and equipment become available.
