The Dane County Board voted to refer an ordinance amending Chapter 71—dealing with motorized use on icebound lakes—back to the appropriate committee for additional public comment.
Supervisor Erickson moved the referral, saying constituents requested more input and noting changes in vehicle manufacturing that affect how existing rules apply: "I'd like to move to refer this back to committee mainly for some more public comment," he said. Supporters on the floor, including Supervisor Brandmeier, said a short delay is reasonable to ensure all stakeholders are heard. Opponents cited a lengthy public engagement process already completed and said they would vote against rereferral. The motion to rerefer passed and the item will return to the Environment, Agriculture and Natural Resources committee for further consideration.
