Subcommittee updates: elders classes, cultural gathering, elections and pow wow plans

Several subcommittees provided program and event updates in the March 21 meeting. The Ogahpah Wisdom Keepers (Grace Goodeagle) reported a March 5 trip to the Bass Pro Wildlife of Wonders Museum and scheduled elder digital skills classes for March 25–27; the committee also invited nominations for the AARP Oklahoma American Indian Honors award and will meet April 2 at 1 p.m. The Cultural Committee (Barbara Collier) announced a spring gathering on March 28, vendor and concession plans, and a Route 66 Festival banner to be displayed in June and July.

The Election Committee (Lori Shafer) said the first election mailout would begin the coming week and noted a petition was rejected for insufficient verifiable signatures. The Pow Wow Committee (Shawn Ellick) outlined upcoming tournaments and fundraising activities, and the Cyber Security Committee (Mikel Whitecrow) reported two vacancies and emphasized that the committee's policy explains implementation to comply with law rather than creating new law; the committee seeks applicants with cybersecurity, education, or IT experience before the April 3 deadline.
