Court approves certificate enabling Texas Health Resources bond financing; attorney says county incurs no debt

John Civils, an attorney with Norton Hills Fulbright representing Texas Health Resources, requested the court approve a certificate required by the tax code so Texas Health can proceed with financing and refinancing projects at multiple campuses, including work tied to the local facility. Civils emphasized that the county's approval of the certificate does not obligate the county for the debt.

"By giving us approval, this doesn't obligate the county on any of the debt, or anything of that nature and so it'll just be the obligation of Texas Health," Civils said. The presiding judge confirmed a public hearing required under the tax code had been held; the court then voted to approve the certificate by voice vote.

No completion dates or financing terms were specified for projects in Forney or elsewhere during the presentation; Civils said the certificate related to financing that is already under way or refinancing of completed projects.
