Pueblo County approves new CAO reporting structure ahead of incoming chief

Pueblo County commissioners approved a resolution setting the reporting structure for the county’s incoming chief administrative officer, Robert Choi, who is scheduled to begin next Monday. Commissioners and staff described the changes as a phased approach designed to give the new CAO a strong, manageable leadership team.

A board speaker outlined the positions that will report directly to the CAO: a project manager, senior project manager for the detention center, the building safety manager, an executive assistant, the grant writer, and the heads of both Facilities and Parks and Recreation. The Runyon general manager and related staff will now report to the deputy director of parks and recreation, and the staff architect and energy program manager will report to the deputy director of facilities. The board approved the reporting changes by voice vote.

Commissioners said the move will let the Public Works director focus on roads while consolidating facilities and parks under the CAO to improve organizational efficiency as the county reorganizes.
