Palo Alto County supervisors name 2026 chair, set committee assignments

The Palo Alto County Board of Supervisors met Jan. 2, 2026, in Emmetsburg for its annual organizational meeting. Supervisors unanimously approved the agenda and minutes, and by motion nominated Linus Solberg as chair and Keith Wirtz as chair pro tem for the calendar year; the motion was seconded by Ronald Graettinger and carried with all five supervisors voting aye.

The board then approved a slate of committee and board assignments for the year. Among the listings, Ron Graettinger was named to the county agricultural committee and courthouse security committee, Craig Merrill to economic development and Mid Iowa Growth Partnership, Linus Solberg to emergency management and the E‑911 Board, and Roger Faulstick to the Northwest Iowa Regional Housing Authority and PACGDC. The appointments conclude the board’s organizational housekeeping for 2026 and were followed immediately by adjournment.
