Court approves $1.1 million facilities budget amendment; consent agenda items pass 4-0

The Commissioner's Court voted unanimously to approve a budget amendment to replenish county facilities funds and completed its consent agenda. Director of Facilities Louis Palma requested an adjustment, and the court approved a $1,100,000 transfer from non-departmental funds to cover repairs and ongoing utilities needs.

"We are requesting a budget adjustment of $1,187,925.76," said Louis Palma, Director of Facilities, describing year-to-date spending and upcoming repairs. Budget Director Monica Arris told the court the county would move $1,100,000 from non-departmental funds so facilities could finish the fiscal year. Commissioner (speaker 3) moved approval; the motion passed 4-0. The consent agenda passed earlier after Commissioner Fletcher moved to approve the remainder and the court voted the motion carried four-zero; item 1H4 was pulled for comment, later moved by the commissioner who congratulated Kimberly Roberson on her promotion and the item carried 4-0.

The budget amendment request included a detailed accounting of work already completed (about $789,625.76 in projects) and upcoming projects totaling approximately $398,300, including replacement of a juvenile detention circulation pump, associated engineering, painting for Juvenile Detention Cluster 3, medium and high-voltage preventative maintenance, and generator rentals. The court recorded the formal motions on the record and carried each vote unanimously.
