County reviews attorney pay ranges; some positions lack comparables

Erica Johnson of Human Resources reviewed attorney salary ranges and turnover patterns across comparable counties, position by position. She noted some positions rank above the 75th percentile, some are below, and that certain unique roles (for example, a legal advisor position in the sheriff's office and newer roles like a probate guardianship attorney) lack meaningful comparables.

"There are not enough matches" for some positions, Johnson said when explaining why certain roles cannot be benchmarked against peer counties. The presentation included counts (for example, 10 budgeted misdemeanor prosecutor positions and 39 felony prosecutor positions) and rank positions (Collin County ranks second on some felony prosecutor metrics). HR agreed to pull additional information about where unbenchmarked functions reside in peer counties.
