Human Resources presented the county's ancillary benefits data, reporting notable decreases in comp-time liability and workers' compensation costs in 2025. HR reported roughly $3.5 million in comp-time liability at the end of December 2025 and described a new comp policy implemented January 1 that reduced high balances and participation levels.
"At the end of December in 2025, we had a comp liability of almost $3,500,000," Erica Johnson said, describing the trend. HR reported a 49% reduction in a specified comp metric over six months, fewer employees with over 200 comp hours (150 in Dec 2025 down to 77 by July 1), and a 58% decrease in workers' comp indemnity and medical payments year over year. The presentation also covered PTO, shift differentials, stipend programs, and changes to long-term care policy enrollment.
