Burlington board begins first-year goals, discusses superintendent evaluation framework

At its July 27 special meeting, the Burlington U.S.D. No. 244 Board of Education devoted time to goals and expectations for the new board-superintendent team.

Under the Goals and Expectations section of the agenda (items 4.A–4.D), board members and Superintendent Donalyn Biehler reviewed discussion prompts including district strengths and challenges; what the superintendent should know early; what makes a great team; how the board will measure short-term goals using the strategic plan; expectations the board has of the superintendent and vice versa; communication approaches to build trust and unity; and an initial conversation about one-year evaluation goals for board and superintendent.
