Committee recommends full-board review of 4% transaction fee on credit-card registration

Committee members discussed whether the district should add a transaction fee to cover online registration processing. "When I had the store, I charged it was a 4%...but they have some of them now doing 3%," one committee member said while others noted parents may react negatively to added charges. Staff flagged a recent state action that limits surcharges on debit transactions and said they would verify whether the district can pass fees for debit versus credit cards.

The committee agreed to forward the recommendation to the full board with staff-provided legal clarifications on debit-card treatment and proposed ordinance language.
