Katy ISD parents urge reinstatement of bus service after route removals affecting about 90 families

A community representative who spoke after being called by the board said the district’s recent decision to remove bus service for students attending Adams Junior High and Jordan High School affects "around 90 families" and raises pedestrian-safety concerns. "Our primary concern is student safety because this route's lack of adequate lighting during the early morning," the speaker said, asking the district to provide the walking-route start/end points, the safety criteria used to calculate hazardous-route status, and the route-assessment data used in the decision.

Srinivas Patel, a neighbor who spoke after the first commenter, echoed the concerns and said some walking distances exceed a mile and that families request the district reinstate bus transportation until the route-evaluation process is completed. District staff did not provide an immediate commitment to reinstate service but were asked to revisit the route assessments and to communicate more detailed calculations and safety criteria to the affected families.
