City awards $105,279 firewall replacement contract to Riverside Technology (RTI)

IT staff recommended awarding the firewall replacement contract to Riverside Technology (RTI) after an RFP produced six responses, two of which were within budget. Jack (IT staff) told commissioners RTI offered local Kansas City support and an approach emphasizing ongoing relationship and in‑person service. Staff recommended purchasing four Fortinet firewalls with implementation, five years of licensing and one year of managed services for $105,279.44 to replace equipment reaching end‑of‑life in October.

Commissioners discussed redundancy and backup pairs, and staff confirmed there will be paired units at each location. A motion to approve the contract was moved and seconded; the commission voted to approve the award.
