Commission authorizes $60,000 design contract for three stormwater projects

Public works staff asked the commission to authorize a design services contract with BG Consultants not to exceed $60,000 to develop three stormwater projects into shovel‑ready status. The projects are: (1) 1213 Kickapoo, where a failing culvert under the road risks road closure; (2) phase two of 6th Avenue in Walnut, prioritized because of proximity to home foundations; and (3) 12th between Dakota and Pawnee, where steep ground and recurring mud build‑up cause public complaints and make parking difficult.

Staff described the first two as high‑priority due to potential road closure and risks to foundations, and said funding for construction would be pursued later. The commission moved, seconded and authorized the mayor to sign a design services contract not to exceed $60,000 funded from the stormwater fund.
