Middlefield CPC keeps radio estimate at Kenwood low-end; leaves extra unit to departments

Committee members discussed whether to add an additional handheld radio as a backup for Fire and Police departments. Chair Jay Swift said the committee should use the lower-cost Kenwood 800‑frequency radios as the estimate and noted that Motorola quotes were substantially higher. Members voted not to add a backup radio to the grid and left the decision about purchasing extra units to the discretion of department heads.

AnnMarrie Visconti reiterated earlier comments that funding-source responsibilities are not within the committee’s purview, and members agreed to record the estimate using the Kenwood price point so the capital grid reflects the committee’s planning assumption.
