Council recommends moving forward with annexation of 42 Canary Drive to allow sewer connection

Staff member presented an annexation request for 42 Canary Drive and recommended advancing the annexation process to enable connection to city sewer. Staff said the parcel is approximately 0.43 acres, is already on city water but paying outside-city rates, and that a mainline extension has been approved and paid by the requester in a prior annexation; staff recommended scheduling an official plan-of-services and a public hearing on 08/20/2026.

The Chair entertained a motion to recommend moving forward with the annexation process; the council voted in favor and the motion carried. Staff and council members discussed outreach and clarified that once the sewer mainline is installed, the annexed property would be eligible to connect to the city sewer system.
