Some trustees press for a longer, simpler strategic plan and clearer public messaging

At the workshop several trustees urged the board to adopt a simpler, longer‑term strategic plan that would be more understandable to the public. One trustee argued that the district should identify a few big, visible goals — for example a 10‑year aspiration to replace aging high schools — rather than a lengthy operational document that the public will not read.

Trustees and communications staff discussed producing a single‑page public summary and reorganizing future agendas so that items are explicitly tied to one of the five board priorities. Communications staff said they could produce a more visual, digestible product but would need input from trustees to finalize the messaging.
