The Bennington County Regional Commission approved minutes of its Jan. 15, Feb. 19 and May 21, 2026 meetings after a motion by Commissioner John LaVecchia and a second from Commissioner Walter Klinger. The motion carried and the minutes were recorded as approved.
Commissioner Charlie Rockwell moved to open the public hearing on the proposed Bennington Regional Plan; Commissioner Michael Fernandez seconded and the hearing was opened. BCRC staff reviewed the procedural timeline for the plan, outlined public engagement efforts and shared Future Land Use maps. The staff presentation also explained how required housing targets were calculated to meet state planning requirements under Act 181; staff then answered questions from commissioners and members of the public. The public hearing was later closed by the commission.
No formal votes on the regional plan or on any other ordinance or resolution were recorded in the minutes. The meeting proceeded to a presentation by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation and a brief Merck Forest & Farmland Center update before adjourning at 7:58 p.m.
