Commissioners approve 2026 courthouse lawn contract and several payroll changes

The Pawnee County Board of Commissioners approved a 2026 lawn-maintenance contract and several personnel actions at their Jan. 19 meeting.

Tim Taylor, the county maintenance supervisor, presented a proposal from Turf N Tree Pros, LLC to provide Regular 4 Step Applications for the courthouse, sheriff’s department and EMS. Commissioner Miller moved and Commissioner Burdett seconded a motion to approve the contract at $2,066.40 to be paid from the Courthouse fund; the motion passed, 3-0.

Clerk Rein presented payable vouchers for the 13th month and current year, draft minutes and payroll change notices. The board also approved Sheriff Department step raises effective Jan. 18, 2026 — including a Deputy I move from step 4 to step 5 (with Jail Supervisor differential) and a Deputy I promotion from step 7 to Deputy II step 1 — and a change of status for a County Attorney's office employee to include benefits. Those motions were approved by unanimous vote.
