Board authorizes memo to council, notes member turnovers and upcoming agenda items

After the vote on the draft plastic bag ordinance, the board directed the chair to work with staff to prepare a memorandum summarizing the board's concerns for county council. Chair Dave Hampton thanked public commenters and reminded the public that an opening exists on the Environmental Sustainability Board and invited interested residents to apply.

Council liaison Councilor Hand provided a brief liaison report: council is advancing a community dashboard and comprehensive plan and had a recent motion (voted down 4–3) about directing ESB to evaluate expanded recycling services for single‑use plastics. Staff also noted upcoming agenda items including a biosolids presentation and an RFP for commercial food composting. The board was reminded that three member terms are expiring and that some members may reapply or continue to support climate action work.
