Court appoints Rashad Moore as interim public works director amid public concerns raised at comment period

A member of the public, John Shipley, told the court he opposed appointing an interim Road & Bridge director without a public hiring process. "There has been some racist allegations brought up and they haven't been addressed," Shipley said, adding that he had reapplied for county work and urged posting the job with interviews rather than a direct appointment.

Later in the agenda, the court took up item 39 and by motion appointed Rashad Moore as interim public works director. Judge Parrish announced the motion and asked for the question; the motion carried.

The public comment and the appointment occurred in the same meeting but the court proceeded with the appointment during the scheduled agenda. The court did not record additional discussion or any formal conditions tied to the interim appointment during the motion and vote.
