Board moves forward with right-of-way vacation to reconfigure 16th & Farnham intersection

Engineering staff described a proposed right-of-way vacation at the 16th & Farnham intersection tied to a city project and private redevelopment at the former South Side Library site. “This is just the first step in the right-of-way vacation process,” the staff member said; if approved the engineering department will prepare legal descriptions, a resolution, and documents for the common council to consider the vacation formally.

Staff said existing utilities under the small tail of 16th Street would be relocated into 16th Street as part of the current city project and that the vacated parcel is expected to be absorbed by the library parcel pending county review. The Board voted to direct staff to prepare the necessary documents and proceed with the formal vacation process.
