Councilwoman Chang urges public feedback on Harriet Tubman Byway plan

Councilwoman Chang told the council July 27 that representatives from the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Heritage Byway visited Peekskill to gather public input and are preparing materials due in October.

She said turnout at the local meeting was low and urged residents to look at the project website and submit feedback and letters of support. "They're seeking letters of support," Chang said, and asked that the council consider inviting the project representative back for a presentation so more residents can learn about the initiative.

Chang described the project as a multi-jurisdictional effort to connect routes from Niagara Falls to Yonkers and said the next phase includes local outreach and municipal support.
