Airport director: administration building on track, hangar work, PAPI bids and proposed Jack Bolt naming

Airport staff reported the administration-building trusses are up and that roofing and interior work will follow; staff said construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of October with the goal of being operational by year end. "The construction right now is scheduled to be complete end of October," the director said, and staff noted the timeline remains tentative and is being tracked week by week.

Staff also updated the board on several capital and infrastructure projects: the fuel-farm contract has cleared scope and insurance reviews and should return to schedule in coming months; T-Hangar E construction begins Sept. 8 with phased tenant displacement (about 30 days per side); a septic-to-sewer conversion for the tower is planned to support future development; and bids for PAPI (precision approach) lighting upgrades to LED have been received and await FDOT review. Additionally, staff summarized a June 24 public meeting on relocating the airport entrance (60–80 attendees, majority opposed to a roundabout at the proposed spot), and floated a potential renaming to honor Jack Bolt — several board members voiced support and staff suggested a formal vote after new appointees have had time on the board.
