Applicant seeks new liquor license to let families and minors into Macomb arcade bar

Miss Heller, speaking on behalf of L&J Tequila Incorporated doing business as Pre Game Arcade Bar, described her business model and asked the council to adopt a new class of liquor license that would allow younger visitors to attend private and family-friendly events. She said the venue opened about a year ago, drew stronger business when college students returned and received repeated requests from families who could not enter under the current licensing rules. "People asked, ‘Can I bring my 15-year-old?’ and we had to say no," Miss Heller said, describing plans for a bracelet system and an 18-and-under curfew before 10:00 p.m. to separate younger patrons from late-evening crowds.

City staff confirmed required notice procedures were followed (written notice to record owners within 250 feet, signage at the property and a published notice), and the clerk reported that no written protests had been received as of the public hearing. The ordinance to create a Class AE+SS+EH liquor license was presented for first reading and placed on the Committee of the Whole agenda for further discussion next week. The council did not take a final vote on the license at tonight’s meeting.
