Neighbors raise funds for memorial bench along River Road light path

A neighborhood organizer announced that a community fundraising drive has met its goal to install a memorial bench and accompanying kiosk along the River Road light path.

"We have achieved our goal," the resident said, explaining volunteers reached the fundraising target in late September and October and that the city landscape designer has proposed three central sites visible from the trail. The speaker said the city uses a standardized bench design and that the memorial will include a plaque; construction is expected to take place this summer.

Organizers asked whether location details could be published and said they would finalize site selection once the landscape diagram is complete. The presenter said the project had broad neighborhood support and credited local fundraising and contributions from groups including a neighborhood park treasurer. Attendees asked for images and a diagram to be shared; the organizer said an aerial photo would be available for review.
