The Heard County Board of Commissioners on July 25 approved rezoning 1.5 acres at 3253 Bevis Road in Franklin from residential to commercial to permit a welding and fabrication shop. Chairman Lee Boone opened the public hearing and noted the county Planning Commission had recommended the change.
Applicant Brandy Woods requested the rezoning so Mr. Billy Joe Beckom, identified as the prospective operator and a Heard County resident, could open and run a welding/fabrication business on the site, which had previously housed a septic tank business. The board closed the public hearing with no further public comment and then voted on the measure.
On a motion by Commissioner Joe Adams, seconded by Commissioner Keri Denney, the board voted unanimously to rezone the parcel. The decision clears the way for the business to operate under a commercial zoning classification; the record lists the property address as 3253 Bevis Road and the rezoned area as 1.5 acres. No permits, operating hours, or conditional-use restrictions were specified in the meeting record.
