Seneca council approves transfer to cover $3,500 workers' comp increase

The council approved Resolution 01-17 to transfer appropriations in the general fund after City Manager Josh Walker explained an approximately $3,500 increase in workers' compensation costs. Walker said the rise stems from the treatment of firefighter training months: the city is using an assumed wage of $800 per person per month when firefighters attend training, which raised the premium calculations for the year.

Mayor Andrea Combs and councilors discussed that the accounting method will be adjusted in next year’s budget. Councilor Pettyjohn moved to accept Resolution 01-17, Councilor Smith seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
